Early Childhood Pre-Parkour Program (How it Impacts Toddlers)
Feb 14, 2025Our Early Childhood Pre-parkour program is designed to support growth and development in toddlers in many critical areas. At the core of this program is the benefit of developing neural networks that prepare a child for a life full of movement, healthy choices, confidence, creativity, ability to think critically and the ability persevere through hard things. Every new thing a toddlers participate in builds neural pathways that each time they are reviewed become stronger and stronger. Our program strengthens and builds upon the foundation already developing in the young toddlers mind and introduces a wide variety of new neural pathways to begin developing. The Neuroplasticity of toddlers is incredible. A toddler's ability to develop and grow new neuro pathways is tremendous and reminds us this age spend is a special time for parents and care givers to strategically help them develop and prepare for life. The flip side is startling as well. Just like a toddler can build new neural networks, their brain can also end neural networks that it doesn't feel like are important to keep around. This means if a toddler is not moving and being active, their brain will start shifting to promote a sedentary lifestyle through the neural pathways the brain starts weakening and eventually ends.
If we want our toddlers to grow up to be adults who enjoy movement and living a healthy active lifestyle, we get to help them build those pathways young.
Here is a summarized and simplified list of neural pathways are program helps toddlers develop and/or strengthen.
- Basic Movement - participating in our weekly classes and doing the simple homework at home helps toddlers develop neural pathways that embrace basic movement and pathways that see movement as good and something worth learning.
- Cross-lateral - We focus our lessons on developing the toddlers ability to use the left and ride sides of their bodies in connection. Neuro pathways that allow for cross lateral movement help with many things including coordination, spatial awareness, writing, and reading.
- Balance - through introduction and repetition to a variety of balance positions toddlers develop strong neural pathways that support balance. These Neuro pathways help promote safer movement principles in the child's life because they are more aware when they are out of balance and about to fall and can often respond quicker to land in a less hurtful manner.
- Confidence and Positive Self-image- our success oriented early childhood program helps toddlers develop neuro pathways that promote confidence and a positive self-image that believes they can do hard things and they can learn new things. Our program also helps toddlers build belief and neuro pathways that support a view of self that they are healthy, strong, and capable.
- Healthy Eating - We help toddlers develop a love for exploring healthy foods through our positive focus on nutrition in an age appropriate manner.
- Love for Literacy - We weave in books about movement, health, and nutrition to help build a foundation of love for books and exploration of literature in the toddler's neuro networks
- Speech Development - Our program is crafted to include many language development properties including introduction to and interaction with prepositions, adverbs, and adjectives in a fun and creative way. We focus on helping the toddlers learn major body parts, basic colors, numbers, shapes, directions, and prepositions. We do all this through movement exploration which removes the abstract concept words.
- Empathy - We introduce elements of empathy in our program. By acting like animals in our movements we help toddlers develop the ability to think as if they are imitating an animal and build neuro pathways that consider how other creatures may feel. This builds a foundation for developing empathy and compassion towards others and animals.
- Mirroring Ability - We help toddlers develop neuro pathways that allow them to receive information (watching a movement be done) and be able to copy it as movement in their own body. These pathways help a toddler be more in tune with what is going on in life outside their immediate bubble. This lays a foundation of neuro networks to prepare a child to be thoughtful and kind and think about others.
- Creativity - We help toddlers enjoy being creative. We help them see creativity is good and we strengthen their ability to be creative and enjoy it. Neuro pathways that support creativity help a child be able to develop the ability to self-entertain. This can help reduce the time a child spends on technology throughout their life!
- Grit- Our program helps toddlers develop neuro pathways that support wanting do hard things and accomplish challenges, even if they don't succeed the first time.
