Give Your Teen Tools To Dream Big - LAUNCH
Jan 11, 2025In Launch I break down basic skills of planning ahead and dreaming big. One aspect of this is teaching the brain to think long term and develop pathways that expand to a larger view of life. This helps teenagers be responsible and also helps with depression and massive emotional rollercoasters. These brain pathways help a teenager learn to think beyond this exact moment and to trust the process. Another aspect of teaching a teenager to dream big is to give them some direction. The goal is not planning out their whole life, the goal is getting them motivated and on a journey that will get them further along than where they are now. The farther they get on that journey the more they will know if it's the right path for them or not. As they go along they can reassess and adjust accordingly. Then they can use the tools they have learned to refocus and press forward with the shifts that align better with who they want to become.
Teenagers do not need to know what they want to be when they grow up. They do need to have some goals to work towards with flexibility to adjust. This could look like a college degree or a trade school or a year off after high school to work and learn more about life. This looks so different for each individual. The goal here is forward movement in becoming a better person and growing then the path gets clearer and clearer each step.
In Launch teenagers get connected to how their brain works and get permission to really dream big. Teenagers are in a tricky place: if their dreams are non-existent people think they aren't doing enough with their life; however, if their dreams are too big or crazy people say it's not possible. The goal in Launch is to help a teenager get clear about what's really in their heart and why and to help them take steps to get closer to that goal. In that process they will learn more about if that is really the right path for them. Launch is a safe, unjudgemental place for a teenager to explore and gain clarity in a confusing and frustrating time that often holds so much pressure.
