Why Skipping is Important

Skipping is more than a playful thing that kids do (or used to do). Skipping is a brain development movement that engages both sides of the brain and causes the Corpus Callosum to develop. Having a strong Corpus Callosum is critical to developing full logic reasoning skills as well as being able to perform tasks that take place on the right and left side of the body (reading left to right and writing left to right just to name a few). Without stimulation and opportunities to create new neural pathways the Corpus Callosum will not grow and develop fully.

Skipping is a commonly known cross lateral activity that engages both sides of the brain at the same time. Because we know how critical stimulating the Corpus Callosum is with cross lateral movements are, we pack our Parkour lessons full of cross lateral opportunities.

Cross Lateral movements are especially powerful for children struggling with symptoms of Autism, Aspergers, Dyslexia and other neurological challenges (things that effect how the brain processes) because they trigger growth in the Corpus Callosum which can reduce the effects of the neurological challenges and be a huge turning point in a child's journey of learning to live a fulfilling life with the challenges they face.
